On the western cemented stone gate pillar is a brass plaque facing Gavan Street. It reads:
On the 11th November 1951
These gates were officially unveiled by
Mrs MARGARET LUMSDEN
representing the families of the fallen
in the 2nd World War 1939 - 1945
"At the going down of the sun and in the morning
we will remember them."
The gates were a gift, by public donations, to the
BRIGHT Progress Association
The ornamental wrought iron gates have a semi-circle, above which are the gold painted words: "LEST WE FORGET", with further scroll work above them. On the stone pillars are 'gas lamp' styled lights hanging above the pillars. The gates are hung over a concrete pathway, which leads on down to the Bright Splash Park.
