While a lot of the surrounding bush is 'semi-open', there is an underlying layer of blackberries, so you would not be tempted to stray from the track, especially when you need to cross the steep sided dirt bank of the Gully.

Parking close by is not real great (to visit the Waymark, without going on the whole loop walk from the reservoir.) I was able to pull off the McFadyens Lane track enough, at S36° 36.705' E146° 57.431'. And at a post with a reflector there was a scramble track down to the Loop Walk at:
S36° 36.723' E146° 57.412'. [I was hunting down GCXPND.]
