The present form of the palace from 1743-1752 takes the form of a large courtyard with two courtyards, to which the garden and riding hall once enclosed. The author of the Baroque adaptation originally created for the Piccolomini family (for Prince Ottoio Piccolomini) is probably Kilian Ignaz Dientzenhofer, after whose death the construction of his son-in-law Anselmo Lurago was completed.
