The design was created by internationally acclaimed Australian artist, Jonathon Leahey. (visit link) The premise of the design is a sculpture reflecting Darlington Point’s hidden treasure and life blood — the Murrumbidgee River. The design shows a section of the river from south to north as a vertical centerpiece in the town.

This new clock was commissioned by Murrumbidgee Shire Council after the Towns Original Clock was damaged in January 2011 by the roll over of a B Double Semi Trailer Truck see (visit link) It was decided to place the clock at a different place to the original.

The new town clock commenced operation in approximately 2013
