Érection civile: 4 octobre 1916. Voir Gazette Officielle de 1916, page 2608. Le territoire de cette paroisse a été détaché de Saint-Zotique. La municipalité du village de Rivière-Beaudette a été érigée le 10 février 1887, en vertu du Code municipal. Pour description, voir M. et P. de Deschamps, page 349. Le nom de sainte Claire d'Assise a été donné pour patronne à la paroisse en l'honneur des Soeurs Clarisses qui venaient de s'établir à Notre-Dame-de-Bellerive, dans le diocèse de Valleyfield. L'origine du nom de Beaudette, est assez étrange, nous dit M.P.G. Roy. Près de l'endroit où se jette la petite rivière Beaudette se trouvait jadis un camp, dans lequel il y avait un lit, communément appelé «beaudet», mot que l'on prononce beaudette. Un jour, on enleva la petite bâtisse et le lit resta sur le sol. Les voyageurs désignèrent bientôt cet endroit sous le nom de «Pointe Beaudette», et ce nom s'étendit à la rivière puis au village.

The municipality of the village of Rivière-Beaudette was erected on February 10, 1887, under the Municipal Code. For description, see M. and P. de Deschamps, page 349. The name of St. Clare of Assisi was given as patron saint to the parish in honor of the Poor Clares who had just settled in Notre-Dame-de -Bellerive, in the diocese of Valleyfield. The origin of the name of Beaudette, is rather strange, says M.P.G. Roy. Near the place where the little river Beaudette flows, there was once a camp, in which there was a bed, commonly called "beaudet", a word that is pronounced beaudette. One day, the small building was removed and the bed remained on the ground. The travelers soon referred to this place as "Pointe Beaudette", and this name extended to the river and then to the village.
