This stone is the second out of St Andrews on the A917 road to Crail that runs along the coastal fringe of the East Neuk of Fife.

The stone is on the left verge of the road heading from St Andrews just before the entrance to the Castle Golf Course. It is around two foot high and like the others on this road is of white painted whinstone with a white cast-iron cap.

The black lettering on the cap contains six placenames in all with three on both sides each. Most are abbreviated and unlike others on the route, are in capital letters, suggesting that this cap is newer than the others. On one side are the villages of Boarhills and Kingsbarns, and the town of Crail. On the other are the towns of St Andrews, Leuchars and Cupar. A cut benchmark adorns one side of the stone, which like all the others in Fife have been restored by the East Neuk Preservation Society.
