Named for Broken Bow, Nebraska, home of the owners of Dierks Lumber Company, a post office was established here in 1911. The town has thrived on the timber industry, and more recently as home of a large chicken processing plant of Tyson Foods. The town also benefits from tourism, as Beavers Bend State Park lies twelve miles to the north.

This building located at 121-123 N. Broadway was constructed in 1946 of locally quarried sand stone. It is a one-story building with a flat roof. Large stones are set at the corners and center wall. The building was constructed as a combination post office and bank. On the upper wall are two stone panels reading: 19 U.S. POST OFFICE 46 / 19 THE CITIZENS STATE BANK 46

The south post office entrance is a single door under a stone arch, with two stone steps leading from the sidewalk. The entrance to the north bank is canted at the northeast corner, with a stone arch, and three steps with side walls. The windows and doors all have metal awnings. Each occupancy has three display windows facing Broadway. On the upper wall, there are three round stones set in, surrounded by a circle of smaller stones (two on the facade, and one over the canted entrance). The north wall has six single windows which are shuttered.

The building is currently occupied by a small gift shop and Christian ministry, however, we noted that the building is for sale at this time.
