Remnants of the stone foundation for the chimney of the Grinder House,an Inn along the Old Natchez Trace are still visible at Meriwether Lewis National Monument, along the Natchez Trace Parkway near Hohenfeld TN.
A metal sign is located at the ruins of the fireplace at Grinder's House, the only thing left of this wooden inn on the Old Natchez Trace.
The sign reads as follows:
"GRINDER HOUSE
Site and ruins of the Grinder House, in which Meriwether Lewis met his death on the night of Oct 11, 1809."
