The NDB is located in a grassed area beside the airport on the northern side. It is a high power beacon transmitting on 239Khz with the Identity WOL and the ICAO letters YWOL.

It consists of two towers & a middle piece. Three wires stretch between the towers & in the middle a wire runs down to a ground station. All three are behind individual security fences with warnings about trespass & radiation.

The identity is Wollongong (WOL) that being the largest city in the Illawarra. The airport is a short distance to the south west.
