With Round Mountain being so elevated (1,586 metres; 5,200 feet) it is a rather natural choice for positioning of a radar dome. As Wikipedia states: "A radar air navigation station, for the control and guidance of aircraft, is located on the summit of Round Mountain." (visit link)

Air Services Australia, in their 2013 Report in China, [Link below] calls this an, En-route Radar Replacement (ERRP) installation; using mode S radar.

From the Air Services Australia site: (visit link) this installation was replaced in July, 2013. While you cannot 'touch it', you can get close enough to see the Trigonometric Station ["Round" - TS5826] that is standing right beside it. (visit link)

As the single-lane bitumen track coils around Round Mountain, it seems like a two kilometre walk each way. I didn't take note of the coordinates where I parked my car, but it is very obvious, as there a locked gate, and a turning circle, with enough room for bushwalkers to park their vehicles.
