Schoolcraft State Park is a small, rustic park about 10 miles south of Deer River or 12 miles west of Grand Rapids. It is largely undeveloped virgin pine forest.
The park is available for hiking, geocaching, birding, and fishing year round. Primitive camping, including a group camp site and a canoe-in site, are available mid-May through Labor Day. There is a picnic ground, and a boat launch on the Mississippi River.
Firewood and a payphone are available at the self-service kiosk.
State park vehicle permits, good at any Minnesota state park, are $7 per day, or $35 per year.
