The Spartan was one of the U.S. Army’s largest and most powerful anti-ballistic missiles. It was a long-range interceptor for the Safeguard Anti-Ballistic Missile System. The Spartan had 3 solid propellant stages and was capable of operating at altitudes above the Earth’s atmosphere.
The Spartan is no longer in the Army’s inventory.
