Joe Riscky came to Fort Worth from Poland in 1911. He married in 1912, and in 1927, he and his wife opened up this grocery store/market. Eventually, they began serving barbecue lunches here, right out the back door, and the idea caught on. Today, the Riscky family operates several locations in the Fort Worth area.
It's counter service here, with table seating mostly down the center of the restaurant. Your options are barbecue by the pound, plate, including combos, and sandwiches. Barbecue offerings include brisket (chopped or sliced), beef ribs, pork ribs, sausage (including hot links), turkey, ham, bologna. They also serve chili, and a half chicken is available as a plate only. Sides include potato salad, cole slaw, pinto beans, or fried okra, and there is a small children's menu. Keep your eyes open for daily specials on the board at the counter. They have a small bar and a selection of beer and wine, as well as the usual soft drinks. If you have room after all that, they've got banana cobbler.
They celebrated their ninetieth year in business in 2017.
