In Milton, within Milton Cemetery, is this grave for Joseph G. Lannan, Sr., who lived from 1898 to 2000.
Milton Cemetery is located off Centre Street. The side (West) entrance is 100 ft east of the intersection of Centre Street and Randolph Avenue. The monument is off the cemetery road, Maple Street, to the north of this road.
The marker is a grey granite stone about 3 ft by 3 ft and a few inches thick. There are two family names on the marker: "Joy" at the top and "Lannan" halfway down. The name immediately below states,
"1898 Joseph G. 2000"
his wife
"1898 Janet E. 1986"
I could find one reference about the person, in a history page about the Lannan gallery. The page has a geneology that goes back to the early 1800s. His father was "Irish Joe" Lannan, a heavy-weight fighter who settled in Hull and was a hotel proprietor. His mother was Margaret Mooney. Joseph Gilbert Lannan married Janet Sieberg and settled in Milton in 1926.
