"The bell tower of Florence Cathedral, known as Giotto’s Campanile, was designed by the great 14th-century master. But construction work had not long started when he died in 1337, and it was completed in the second half of the 14th century. Climbing up the steps it is possible to see the 14th-century architectural features from inside; the terrace at the top offers a fabulous view of the city and of Brunelleschi’s Cupola."
