CR1243 - JARVIS CHRISTIAN COLLEGE TANK - Hawkins, TX - U.S. Benchmarks on Waymarking.com

This benchmark was first observed by the CGS in 1957, with no descriptive information. It is the top of the water tank located on the West side of Jarvis Christian College's campus grounds, located on 7631 Hwy 80 in NE Texas (Wood County), about 1.5mi East of the city Hawkins.

The college was founded in 1912; it is a historically black college affiliated with the Disciples of Christ (usually called the "Christian Church"). Once at the campus' main guarded entrance, take a left on the first available paved road for .14mi, then right on the next paved road for .1mi: the water tower will be on your right and quite easy to spot.

The NGS' currently posted coordinates ("N 32 35 18.96538 W 095 10 54.79541", or "N 32° 35.316 W 095° 10.913") were in line with my observations while on site.

The station was recovered in good condition.
