Located at the Collier State Park Logging Museum is a high wheel logging arch. There is a wooden placard in front of it that reads:

LOGGING WITH THE HIGH WHEELS

High wheels were developed for more efficient "skidding" of logs from the woods to "landings" where they were transferred to logging wagons or railroad cars for the long haul to the mill. High wheels enabled elevating the front ends of logs off the grounds, thus easing the work of the horse teams while drastically increasing production. This basic principle in log skidding affected the industry for nearly a century, long after "cats" replaced the 4-horse teams.

There are a couple of other logging arches within this museum as well but this logging arch is the only one which contains some history about it.
