The Blue Ridge Parkway is a 469-mile scenic route that spans the crest of the Blue Ridge Mountains from Afton, Virginia to Cherokee, North Carolina. One of the roads most distinctive feature are the many stone arch bridges that allow the parkway to cross streams or pass safely over or under other roads. At last count there are more than 160 of these structures. This double arch bridge that carries Route 89 over the Blue Ridge Parkway was built in 1951 and is the only double arch bridge on the parkway. (
