This statue is located in Lind Park in St Marys, Ontario. The statue is of Arthur Meighen, Canada's 9th Prime Minister. Arthur Meighen was born only a short drive away in Anderson, Ontario and went to high school in St Mary's (which is now named after him).

Arthur was actually Prime Minister twice. His first was from July 10th, 1920 to December 29th, 1921 after he succeeded Sir Robert Borden as leader. His controversial nature resulted in a massive loss for the party in the 1921 election, even losing his own constituency.

His second term was much shorter from June 29th, 1926 to September 25th, 1926. This was the result of William Lyon McKenzie King resigning his position as Prime Minister to get a new election and secure a majority government. It worked and Meighen ended up leaving politics and pursuing law. When he passed away in 1960 he was buried in nearby St Marys Cemetery.

The statue of Arthur was unveiled on September 14th, 1987. Designed by Marcel Braitstein from Quebec, the statue appears to be made out of copper. The statue was originally made in 1968 for Ottawa however the un-positive reaction to the statue made the government shelve the statue for 20 years!
