The plaque says, "Use your senses to discover the large and small residents of this diverse and dynamic spot on our coastline. Listen for the shrill calls of black oystercatchers, foraging for shellfish. Inspect the wet rocky areas to see colorful sea stars and green anemones clinging to the rocks. Watch for spouts of grey whale mothers and calves migrating back to Alaska between December and March. Breathe in the tangy sea air made pungent by the giant kelp and millions of tiny phytoplankton (microscopic, oxygen-producing marine plants) washed ashore. Imagine flying brown pelicans as they glide across the wave tops. If you're lucky, you may hear an elephant seal pup call to its mother. The on longer you linger, the more you will see and hear."
