The DeQueen Post Office was a New Deal building project, and has a similar look to many of the Treasury Department post office buildings.
This is a one-story tan brick building which is square, with a hipped roof covered with composition shingles, constructed in 1940.
The central entrance has a single aluminum and glass door with narrow sidelight. Above the door is a large panel covered with metal scrollwork, containing a metallic eagle. On the upper wall is a frieze reading "United States Post Office / DeQueen, Arkansas." There are four large segmented windows separated by wide brick pilasters. Under each window unit is a concrete panel, and there is a concrete water table around the building.
There is a basement, with an outside entrance on the south elevation. A handicap ramp has been added to the front of the building. To the left of the entrance is a concrete cornerstone reading:
James A. Farley
Postmaster General
John M. Carmody
Federal Works Administrator
W. Englebert Reynolds
Commissioner of Public Buildings
Louis A. Simon
Supervising Architect
Neal A. Melick
