Carriages of this type were manufactured in great number between about 1885 and 1915 at which time the carriage building industry in America was beginning to fade away.

The rear seat was removable allowing the carriage to be used as a wagon, yet, when it place it would serve to drive the family to church on Sunday.

The Studebaker Company made a great many of these carriages and retailed them through Sears and Roebuck at prices ranging from $19.95 to $39.95.
