On the western side of Forest Park is an Interpretative Sign about soil erosion that shows where you are on your walk around the Park.

The sign is 'Titled', "Rain Strips Topsoil …"
And the sign has, along with map on the bottom right, the following information on it:
"Australian soils are some of the oldest and thinnest in the world. European settlement has sped up natural processes of erosion. Land clearing has left much of our topsoil unprotected and silted many of our rivers.
"When our river becomes turbid, soil particles absorb the suns heat and light does not reach the stream bottom. When the river warms, less oxygen is available for aquatic animals. Responsible farmers, foresters and engineers now use vegetation in the riparian (streamside) zone to filter this sediment. Indigenous plants buffer our use of the land and protect our aquatic life."
