This is a C12th church in what was a village, now grown into a small town. It must have been an impressive sight with its very tall tower when there were fields all round the village before the C19th growth.

This slightly worn flush bracket is on a buttress mid-way along the north face of the chancel, 1.0m above ground and 19.015m above Newlyn datum. It was last verified in 1985 and leveled in 1953.

There is a second mark on the church, a cut mark on the east face of the chancel at the south-east angle, for which see a separate waymark.
