The work
located in the Mercille Park in the heart of Saint-Lambert, this monument commemorates the soldiers of the city perished in the World Wars. The monument is a gift from General Arthur Currie to the city of Saint-Lambert. Initially, the monument commemorated only the soldiers who died during the First World War. After the Second World War, a mention is added to the one already present.
The artist
of German origin, Emmanuel Hahn has a prolific career as a sculptor in Canada. He works mostly stones and bronze. Involved in many projects in Ontario, his works are often commissioned by historical figures or commemorations such as the Robert Burns statue or the invention of the telephone by Alexandre Graham Bell. He was the first
President of the Society of Sculptors of Canada in 1928.
