Der Freitreppenbrunnen hat ein Marmorbecken und ein Granitrelief mit den Wappen der beiden im Jahr 1972 zu Kempten eingegliederten Gemeinden Sankt Mang und St. Lorenz.
Für den Brunnen an der Freitreppe mussten 1903 zwei Häuser fallen, um eine Verbindung zwischen Ober- und Unterstadt zu schaffen. Erst 1982 wurde er wieder restauriert.
Die Freitreppe besteht aus 49 Stufen und beginnt unten in zwei Treppenläufen, rechts und links vom Freitreppenbrunnen.

The Freitreppenbrunnen has a marble basin and a granite relief with the coats of arms of the two municipalities of St. Mang and St. Lorenz, which were incorporated into Kempten in 1972.
For the well on the Freitreppe 1903 two houses had to fall, in order to create a connection between the upper and lower town. It was only restored in 1982.
The Freitreppe consists of 49 steps and begins at the bottom in two steps, to the right and left of the Freitreppenbrunnen.
