Charles C. King enlisted in the 16th Connecticut Volunteers Infantry Regiment on August 5, 1862 and was mustered in on August 24, 1862. Less than a month later, on September 20, 1862, he succumbed to wounds he received in action at the Battle of Antietam on September 17, 1862.
