As described by the NGS back in 1973 (although already monumented by the CGS back in 1942):
"ABOUT 0.15 MILE EAST OF I-45 OVERPASS, [...] 35 1/2 FEET NORTH OF THE CENTER LINE OF SPRING-STEUBNER RD., 3.2 FEET NORTHEAST OF A UNDERGROUND CABLE MARKER POST, 1 1/2 FEET SOUTH OF A FENCE, 1.4 FEET EAST OF A METAL WITNESS POST, 1/2-FOOT BELOW THE LEVEL OF THE ROAD, AND SET IN THE TOP OF A CONCRETE POST PROJECTING 0.8 FOOT."
This NGS description is still reasonably still accurate, with the following exceptions:
(1) The underground cable marker post is no longer there... The station is about 15-20ft from a lone tree, which is a much easier identifiable reference point.
(2) the fence is definitely gone, no need to worry about crossing into any type of private property (since this is now the grassy grounds of CubeSmart, a commercial establishment nearby).
The NGS' currently posted coordinates ("N 30 05 02.54 W 095 26 01.09", or "N 30° 05.042 W 95° 26.018") were "reasonably" in line with my observations, as measured within 10' accuracy and 10+ reading averages: their coordinates may be 10+ feet off, but it should be VERY easy to find this particular benchmark. :)
The station was recovered in 'decent' condition: it is showing some signs of wear and scratches, but still quite legible for a BM monumented back in 1942.
