The wooden totem pole is surrounded by a ceramic tile piece mosaic circle, about 3 metres in diameter.
The western side base looks like it has been carved to be the toes of a monster's foot. There is intricate carvings, with space made for the placement of laser-etched plaques. [Unfortunately the plaques are very hard to read!] At the top is a pelican in flight.
The eastern side (towards Nicholson Street) also has what looks like carved vines up the face, with a coiled snake at the base. There is a length of blue painted PVC pipe, to which markers are attached to, to indicate the heights that various floods have got to from the nearby Snowy River.
