This benchmark -- or what's left of it -- is located near a hill on the north side of FM-3005 (San Luis Pass Rd), ~4 miles Southeast of Jamaica Beach, Texas.

As described by the NGS back in 1978, with some corrections in 1987:

"4.2 MILES SOUTHWEST ALONG FM 3005 (SAN LUIS PASS ROAD) FROM THE JUNCTION OF BUCCANEER DRIVE IN THE SMALL VILLAGE OF JAMAICA BEACH, AT THE JUNCTION OF A ROAD LEADING NORTHWEST, 6.6 MILES NORTHEAST ALONG FM 3005 FROM THE TOLL BOOTH AT SAN LUIS PASS BRIDGE (NORTH END), 60 FT. NORTHWEST OF FM 3005, 36 FT. SOUTH OF THE SOUTH CORNER OF A CATTLE GUARD, 4.6 M (15.1 FT) SOUTHWEST OF UTILITY POLE NUMBER 175, 0.6 METERS NE FROM WITNESS POST"

The NGS associated reference points (i.e. distances/directions) are still good references for locating this station, or at least what's left of it: the galvanized steel rod is still there, and so is the sleeve (and a temporary wooden witness post)... but the actual benchmark brass DISK was missing (or has been removed) at the time of my recovery attempt.

The waymark pictures include my observations as well as two pictures taken back in November 2013 by a fellow benchmarker (likely "Thot") and subsequentally uploaded by the NGS into their online database -- these posted NGS pictures can be found here: (visit link)

The NGS' currently posted coordinates (N 29° 08.932 W 095° 01.730) are reasonably in line with my observations, as measured within 10' accuracy and 10+ reading averages. (FYI: the coordinates on www.geocaching.com are off, but that's irrelevant at this point since the NGS database has accurate readings by now).

Below are some additional facts, per the NGS database (with some editing for length): (visit link)
