AW0618 - "NASS RM 2" reference mark disk - Galveston, TX - U.S. Benchmarks on Waymarking.com

As briefly described by the NGS back in 1978:

"WEST OF THE CENTERLINE OF STEWART ROAD, 10 FT. NORTH OF A POWERLINE POLE, 1 FT. EAST OF A FENCELINE, ABOUT 0.15 SOUTH OF THE EXTENDED CENTERLINE OF 7 1/2 MILE ROAD, 45 FT. SOUTH OF NASS 1933."

The NGS description is actually not that helpful, save for the "10 feet North of a powerline pole" comment... luckily this station has since been complimented with a carsonite witness post which will definitely assist future seekers in finding this benchmark -- alternatively, one can use the gallery images for any future recovery attempts. It is JUST INSIDE the fence line, directly below the witness post. Depending on the season, it may be covered with tall grass and therefore a little hard to photograph (as was in my case).

The station was recovered in good condition. Its latest associated NGS Data Sheet's posted coordinates were in line with my own observations -- as measured within 10' accuracy.
