The Wewoka Post Office is located at 115 W. 2nd Street. This one-story red brick building was constructed in 1935 under a Treasury Department program. It is still in use today, and contains one of the WPA murals prevalent at that time.
The main entrance is centered and consists four concrete steps leading to two doors under a segmented transom with the name WEWOKA, OKLAHOMA displayed. The entrance leads to a small vestibule, with doors into the post office lobby.
On the upper wall, approximately three feet from the roof line is a wide concrete belt course, above which are the words UNITED STATES POST OFFICE. Flanking the entrance are two window bays that are concrete. The large windows are segmented fixed pane units. In the outer bays are smaller segmented windows with recessed brick panels above each.
A cornerstone on the southwest corner of the foundation shows the building to have been constructed in 1935, and reads:
Henry Morgenthau, Jr.
Secretary of the Treasury
James A. Farley
Postmaster General
Louis A. Simon
Supervising Architect
Neal A. Melick
Supervising Engineer
1935
