A memorial plaque behind the Yaquina Head Visitor Center dedicates the Yaquina Head Outstanding Natural Area Interpretive Complex to Mark O. Hatfield. The plaque is located at the entrance to the trail underpass behind the Visitor Center.

Yaquina Head Outstanding Natural Area Interpretive Complex
From 1978 through 1996, the persistence and skill of Senator Mark O. Hatfield were the principal means by which this project proceeded from a dream to a reality. It is in grateful recognition of Senator Hatfield’s efforts that the Bureau of Land Management, Salem District, dedicates this Interpretive Complex to the People of the United States of America
