The town of Krebs in Pittsburg County was first settled in the late 1800's, with a post office being established there in 1886. The town was named for a half-blood Choctaw, Judge Edmond Folsom Krebs (1821-1893). The town was incorporated in 1903.

First settled by Italian immigrants who came to work in the coal mines, the town retains its Italian influence, in building construction, businesses, recreation and folklore. If you want to have a great Italian dinner, Krebs is the place to go.

Krebs City Hall is a one-story native sandstone building constructed by the WPA in 1939. City offices and municipal court are located here.

Krebs is governed by a Mayor and City Council, comprising of four Ward members, elected at large. The Council meets the third Tuesday of each month at 7:00PM in City Hall and the public is welcomed and encouraged to attend.
