From the whatpub website:-
Probably the oldest pub in the town, with a fine timber-framed facade and interesting protruding gables. A wonderful unspoiled front bar was at one time two bars, but still has much charm - with fine tiled floor, original fireplace, timbers and cosy window alcoves. To the rear is a more conventional lounge bar and dining area serving good value meals - with a speciality pie menu - and Sunday lunches. The patio is comfortably furnished and heated in winter. A quiz is held on alternate Wednesdays . The Chequers was taken over by Wye Valley Brewery in December 2015. Repairs to the fabric of the building, and improvements to the garden are under way.
