The Engelsley is a ridge from fossilized seabed. The mountain originated when the Ahr dug itselve in its today's riverbed. Engelsley is a cut-off meander spur and and, hence, is surrounded by the valley of the river Ahr.
The Engelsley has two distinctive summits which are accessible from a climbing steep not marked as a hiking-trail. At the north summit with the summit cross one has an impressive view of Altenahr in the Ahr-valley, castle Are and the surrounding summits.
Sure-footedness, easy climbing and a lack of dizziness are necessary to reach the location. However, the summit can be climbed by every healthy person easily.
