In loving memory of Allen Conner Bill & Genevieve Conner

"Allen L. Conner, 41, Fulton, died June 21, 2000, at St. Marys Health Center.

"He was born April 30, 1959, in Fulton, a son of Bill and Genevieve Clatterbuck Conner. His parents survive. He was married June 6, 1981, to Sandy K. Wilson, who survives at the home.

"He attended Oklahoma State Technical College and received an associate's degree in numeric control engineering. He worked for two years at Modine and owned a John Deere dealership. He then established the Conner-Neukomm Insurance Agency, Fulton. He held a certified insurance counselor's license.

"A lifelong resident of the Fulton area, he was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Fulton, and the Holts Summit Rotary Club. He was past president of Fulton Optimists; past lieutenant governor of Missouri Optimists; president of Kochs; past president of the Chamber of Commerce; and a six-year board member of the Chamber of Commerce, Chamber Ambassadors.

"He held a commercial instrument instructor pilot's license. He was the lieutenant colonel of 1st Missouri Infantry Battalion, Trans-Mississippi Brigade, 1st Confederate Division. He was active in Civil War history, re-enactments and civic events.

"Other survivors include: one daughter, Gwynn Conner, of the home; one son, Aaron Conner, of the home; two sisters, Nancy Womack and Jacque Cox, both of Kansas City; and his paternal grandmother, Evelyn Conner, Fulton.

"Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at First Christian Church, Fulton. The Rev. John Suttenfield will officiate. Burial will be in Morris Cemetery, near Fulton." ~ GenLookUps.com

"Pfc. Orville Allen Sheets - Sheets was born Jan. 24, 1946, and was a Fulton native. He started his tour on Jan. 10, 1968, as an infantryman. According to the Virtual Vietnam Veterans Memorial Wall, he died from multiple fragmentation wounds on Feb. 14, 1968 in Bihn Duong Province, South Vietnam. He was laid to rest in Fulton. Sheets' aunt Carol Atterbery will be representing him in the parade." ~ Fulton Sun, July 3rd, 2015


"Marie Backer Sheets, 94, of Fulton, passed away Thursday, November 6, 2014. She was born March 13, 1920, to the late Carlis Backer and Lena (Haines) Backer of Fulton. On May 13, 1945, Marie was united in marriage to Orville Sheets in McCredie, Mo. He preceded her in death in July of 1990. Marie was a member of First Christian Church of Fulton. She taught in Fulton Public Schools for over 41 years. Marie's memory will be cherished by her sisters, Carol Attebery (Ken) of Fulton, and Phyllis Hartley of Branson; sister-in-law, Marguerite Backer of Fulton; and many nieces and nephews. Along with her husband and parents, Marie was preceded in death by her son, Orville Alan Sheets, who was killed in Vietnam in February of 1968. She was also preceded in death by one brother, Albert Backer; two sisters, Flora McGrath, and Violet Throckmorton. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 8, 2014, at Maupin Funeral Home with Pastor Bruce Williamson and Pastor Ed Varnum officiating. The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. Interment will be in Callaway Memorial Gardens. Memorial donations are suggested to First Christian Church, c/o Maupin Funeral Home, 301 Douglas Boulevard, Fulton, MO 65251." ~ Fulton Sun, November 7th, 2014
