A blue US Government battle tablet at Craven's House explains the contributions of Cruft's Division, Granger's Corps to the larger battle of Lookout Mountain, outside of Chattanooga TN.
This tablet is located near the NY 12th Corps Monument, and reads as follows:
"CRUFT’S DIVISION, Granger’s Corps
Brig. Gen. Charles Cruft
Nov. 24th, 1863
2nd Brigade, Brig. Gen. Water C. Whitaker
3rd Brigade, Col. William Grose
At daylight November 24, Whitaker’s brigade joined Geary’s division at Wauhatchie, crossed Lookout Creek with it, and joined in the assault upon the north point of the mountain, crossing its nose and charging down upon the Cravens house position at noon. Grose’s brigade crossed Lookout Creek at two points, one near, the other half a mile above the railroad bridge, joined the left of Geary’s line and moved with it toward the northern slope of the mountain. Whitaker’s brigade advanced with Geary beyond Cravens. Four regiments of Grose’s brigade operated to the right of and beyond Cravens house and two on the River Road near the east slope of the mountain. Sharp skirmishing was maintained on both sides until after midnight."
