This Celtic cross was erected by the town of Waverton together with a time capsule.

The cross is 15 feet high high and stands on the corner of Moor Lane and Eggbridge Lane.

There was some controversy when a local councillor replaced it with a cross of a Latin design, which he considered to be more of an English design. However this caused a public outcry because they had not been consulted and so the original was returned.

At the base of the cross the time capsule is laid in the ground with the following text.

MILLENNIUM
TIME CAPSULE
TO BE OPENED
15TH DECEMBER 2100
