Die Lindauer Hafeneinfahrt ist weit über die Grenzen der Stadt hinaus bekannt und gilt als die schönste Hafeneinfahrt am ganzen Bodensee. Man fährt in den Hafen, am Bayerischen Löwe und dem Neue Leuchtturm vorbei.
Der sechs Meter hohe, über den See hinweg schauende Löwe ist ein Werk des Münchner Professors Johann von Halbig. Er besteht aus Kehlheimer Sandstein und wiegt etwa 50 Tonnen. Auf dem Sockel des Löwens sind die römischen Ziffern “MDCCCLVI” festgehalten – sie geben Aufschluss über das Jahr der Fertigstellung des Bauwerkes: 1856.
Zu dem Wahrzeichen gelangt man über eine Mole, von der man einen schönen Blick über den Bodensee nach Österreich und die Schweiz hat, sowie auf das Hafenbecken und die Seepromenade von Lindau. Um den Löwen herum kann man auf einem Sockel laufen.

The Lindau port entrance is well known far beyond the borders of the city and is considered to be the most beautiful port entrance on Lake Constance. You pass the harbor, the Bavarian lion and the New Lighthouse.
The six-meter-high lion, looking across the lake, is a work of the Munich professor Johann von Halbig. It consists of Kehlheimer sandstone and weighs about 50 tons. On the base of the lion, the Roman numerals "MDCCCLVI" are recorded - they give information about the year of completion of the building: 1856.
To the landmark you arrive at a mole, from which you have a beautiful view over Lake Constance to Austria and Switzerland, as well as the harbor basin and the lake promenade of Lindau. Around the lion you can walk on a pedestal.
