In the town cemetery, stands the WWI and WWII memorial to the fallen soldiers. There are a few soldiers' grave from both wars as well. The stone markers contain the names of those from WWI. It was erected in 1923.
The poem reads at the top of the three stones...
"Far, far in East there yawns a grave
there man lowers the dead by the thousands.
In West stand many crosses simple and small
there lays the silence in long rows.
And where in wind rustles the ocean
they gave their live joyfully.
They sacrificed future and joy of youth.
They return never back home.
They gave their all, their life and blood.
They gave it with holy courage.
And us? We can only cry and pray
for them, those there lay, pale, bloody, downtrodden.
