The Grosvenor Arms has been an inn since Medieval times. The original timber framed building was a busy coaching inn, originally The Red Lion, it was bought by the Grosvenor family and re-named The Grosvenor Arms in 1820.

"The Grosvenor Hotel, three-storeyed, with rendered walls and slated roofs, dates from c. 1800. The E. front is symmetrical and of five bays, with the three bays in the centre projecting in the two upper storeys and supported on six Tuscan columns. The middle bay of the projection stands slightly in advance of the other two and has a pediment; in the second storey all three bays have large sashed windows."
