While Nowa Nowa is a small town in the Gippsland region of Victoria, it has been able to provide soldiers in the wars mentioned on the black marble plaques at the cenotaph. (There had been an RSL Hall here, but that has been removed for the Community Health Centre, as the RSL Sub-Branch closed.)
On the left-hand Besser block wall (of the "Lest We Forget" cemented stone cairn] there is a black plaque, which reads:
South Africa 1899 - 1903
World War One 1914 - 1919
World War Two 1939 - 1945
Korea 1950 - 1953
And, on the right-hand concrete block wall the black plaque reads:
Malaya/Borneo 1950 - 1967
Vietnam 1962 - 1973
East Timor 2000
UN Peacekeepers 1947
About 10 metres south of the Cenotaph is a 25 pounder artillery on display.
Interestingly, the Heritage Council of Victoria, Nowa Nowa entry shows the stone cairn surrounded by low wooden fencing without the concrete block walls, but it did have the flag pole behind it [however photo/entry is not dated.]
