Het stadhuis valt op te delen in twee delen. Enerzijds is er het ‘oude’ gedeelte en anderzijds is er de nieuwere vleugel. Het oudere gedeelte werd gebouwd in drie jaar tijd, tussen 1769 en 1771, in Louis XV-stijl. Dat is een barokstijl (eerder rococo) en daardoor is het stadhuis gekenmerkt door zijn lichtheid, speelsheid en asymmetrie. Ook nog in die periode was Roeselare een onderdeel van de heerlijkheid van Wijnendale. Daarom staat boven op de gevel het wapenschild van Karel Theodoor van Beieren, die op dat moment daar de heer was. In 1924 werd een modernere vleugel toegevoegd. In dit gedeelte vinden we de belforttoren terug die, naast de Sint-Michielskerk een kenmerk is aan de skyline van Roeselare.

The town hall can be divided into two parts. On the one hand there is the 'old' section and on the other hand there is the newer wing. The older section was built in three years time, between 1769 and 1771, in Louis XV style. This is a baroque style (formerly rococo), and therefore the town hall is characterized by its lightness, playfulness and asymmetry. Also during this period, Roeselare was part of the glory of Wijnendale. That is why the coat of arms of Karel Theodoor of Bavaria, which was at that moment there, is on top of the facade. In 1924 a more modern wing was added. In this section we find the belfry tower which, besides the St. Michiel church, is a feature on the Roeselare skyline.
