The park is available for hiking, geocaching, birding, and fishing year round. Three-season RV and tent camping is available. There are backpacking campsites and two camper cabins. Some of the trails allow horses, mountain bikes or both.
The park office sells firewood. They rent canoes and kayaks, and have horseshoes that visitors can borrow.
Naturalist programs are offered occasionally during the summer.
Immediately to the east of the park is Beltrami Island State Forest.
State park vehicle permits, good at any Minnesota state park, are $7 per day, or $35 per year.
