The Sign is for Anglers and points out the Tongariro River Middle Fishing Pools and provides some rules, regulations and etiquette of trout fishing. The sign is located beside the Major Jones Swingbridge, on the River Trail. This is a popular area for trout fishing and fishermen can usually be spotted in one of the many pools marked on the map, accessed from either side of the river. The Swingbridge is a popular river crossing for anglers, walkers and cyclists along the River Tail.
** If you fancy trying your luck with a trout rod, you will need to purchase a fishing license and use the correct gear, visit one of the local fishing tackle shops who will be pleased to give you advice. The friendly folk at Creel Tackle shop can assist you, it is nearby on Taupahi Road.
