The name "Evergreen Cemetery" was chosen in 1883 because of abundant trees in the area. It is most noted for being the final resting place of the De Leon Family, the founders of Victoria.

Martha Rebecca White Tom was born in Victoria, TX, on July 17, 1844 and died on July 23, 1884. She was married to William R. Tom.(1846-1921)

They had three children:
