VALLEY MADE BOOTS ADDED TO WHEELIS WESTERN STOCK
The popular Rios Boot, made in Mercedes by the Valley Boot Co., now is being stocked in sizes at Wheelis Hardware, Western and Saddle Shop, 622 Old Robstown Road at Shell Center. Owner Buddy Wheelis said customers may select from stock or the shop will take orders and have Rios boots made to measure. Wheelis also stocks Kelly boots at El Paso and takes orders for Border boots, also an El Paso product . "By adding the Rios boot to our stock," Wheelis explained, "we think we are providing a boot that will please the rancher and the man who wants a good boot. If a fancy boot is desired, we can provide it by special order." Original Design - Many customers at Wheelis Hardware, Western and Saddle Shop, owner Wheelis notes, design their own boots and bring the design into Wheelis to have them made. Custom leather work is one of Craftsmen at Wheelis Hardware, using the latest in equipment, make saddles, billfolds, briefcases, belts, bags, gun cases and almost any other kind of leather goods that a person might desire. Custom Products "We specialize in truly custom leather products, Wheelis points out. "We take special pride in producing no two items identically alike." By adhering to this rule, Wheelis assures each customer a one- of-a-kind product every time. The saddle shop specializes in saddle repair and rehabilitation as well as the manufacturer of saddles to order. Ready-made saddles also are offered, along with a complete line of other ready-made leather goods. The western shop carries an exclusive line of men's, women's, and children's western wear and hats. In the hardware department, the Wheelis visitor will find sporting goods, veterinary supplies and the line of hardware items you'd expect to find in a complete suburban hardware store. Owner Wheelis, a native Corpus Christian and former rodeo performer, opened the store here a year ago last month after serving for six years as foreman of a large ranch at Victoria.
(This a caption underneath a photo of a young lady with three pairs of boots in front of her.) SHOP-MADE BOOTS -- Mrs. Roy White of Wheelis’ Hardware, Western and Saddle Shop, 622 Old Robstown Road at Shell Center, shows the Rios boots which have been added to the stock in standard sizes at the store. The boots, made in Mercedes for South Texans, also may be obtained on a made-to-measure basis through Buddy Wheelis' Shell Center store.
