Very impressive woodcarving located at the crest of a hill overlooking Wilbermere Lake and the surrounding forests. The carving appear to be out of maple. There are no distinguishing artist's marks that we could see.

The Howler is accessible on foot from a parking area to the south, at the end of Edward Sanderson Road. There is also an ATV Trail accessible from the north, but it suffered extensive wind damage this summer and hasn't been cleared/maintained as of yet.

The area around the carving is very picturesque. It has been maintained to a degree (grass cut) and there area few Muskoka chairs available to just sit and watch the world go by!
