On the wall of the Poldermuseum in Tolhuisstraat 10-16 in Lillo hangs the coat of arms of Hoevenen.
The coat of arms of Hoevenen is divided. The coat of arms of Ekeren can be found in the left half.
"The arms show three brewing pots. The origin of the arms is not quite clear, but the arms are first mentioned in 1627. It is possible that the arms originally showed canting acorns or brewing kettles, from the word akers, which may have both meanings. Historically there have been many breweries in Ekeren. (The name, however, seems to be derived from the old name of the local river, Akerna)
The arms were officially granted in 1819 in the Dutch national colours. Belgium was at the time part of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, and all arms which were applied for, but where the original colours were not known or mentioned, were granted in the blue and gold national colours. After the Belgian independence, the arms were confirmed."

On the right side of the coat of arms are two red fishes. Unfortunately no further information is available.
"Hoevenen is a municipality of the municipality of Stabroek in the Belgian province of Antwerp (arrondissement of Antwerp).
The municipality of Hoevenen was first established during the French period, and was abolished in 1828 and divided between the former municipalities of Ekeren and Kapellen. In 1866 Hoevenen was founded a second time as a divorce from Ekeren. After that it was an independent municipality until the end of 1976. At that time, Hoevenen had an area of 7.89 km² and it contained 5407 inhabitants. On 1 January 1977, the merger with Stabroek took place."
